Fi and Cheryl Portillo

LEAD PASTORS

Pastor Fi and Cheryl have called The Hill Vallejo home since they were kids. They have 3 adult children who all grew up at The Hill. In 2023, Fi and Cheryl stepped into the role of Lead Pastors, succeeding Pastor Scott and Betsy Peterson, who led The Hill Vallejo for 33 years. Before their role as Lead Pastors, Fi and Cheryl served as Student Ministries and Next Gen Pastors for over 8 years. They are the product of and stand on the foundation of generational prayers.

They believe in building a foundation of faith for the next generation and value the wisdom of those who have gone before them. Together, they have a heart to share the hope found in Jesus and see a legacy of faith passed from one generation to the next— from Vallejo to the world.

Scott and Betsy Peterson

LEGACY PASTORS

In 1990, Pastor Scott and Betsy became the Senior Pastors of the Hill Vallejo. During their time leading our church, they witnessed The Hill Vallejo transform into a vibrant, cross-cultural, multi-generational community. Their passion is to see the church reflect our community and resemble Heaven. In 2023, they passed the baton of leadership to Fi and Cheryl Portillo. 

Pastor Scott and Betsy have always had a heart to see others grow in their faith in Jesus and make a difference in the community. Though they have retired from their role as Senior Pastors, their legacy and ministry continues through leading missions teams and their book Destiny’s Call. The Hill Vallejo is grateful for their legacy of faith and prayer.
