who we are

THIS IS

Welcome from our lead pastorS

Pastor Fi and Cheryl Portillo were installed as our lead pastors in April of 2023. Together they have a heart for reaching generations for Jesus.

our vision is to

BUILD FOLLOWERS OF JESUS IN EVERY GENERATION

Ultimately, building followers of Jesus in every generation is about fostering a living faith that transcends time. It's about nurturing a legacy of love, compassion, and spiritual growth that continues to impact individuals, families, and communities, inspiring them to live in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

what we believe

  • The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

    2 Timothy 3:15-17

    1 Thessalonians 2:13

    2 Peter 1:21

  • The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent "I AM," the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. He has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

    Deuteronomy 6:4

    Isaiah 43:10,11

    Matthew 28:19

    Luke 3:22

  • We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit who empowers us for service and for the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

    Luke 24:49

    Acts 1:4-5, 8

    1 Corinthians 12:1-31

  • We believe that sin separates us from God and His purpose for our lives. Salvation is received by God’s grace through our repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

    Luke 24:47

    John 3:3

    Romans 10:13-15

    Ephesians 2:8

    Titus 2:11

    Titus 3:5-7

  • Baptism by immersion in water is commanded by the Scriptures. Through baptism believers declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with Him to walk in newness of life.

    Matthew 28:19

    Mark 16:16

    Acts 10:47,48

    Romans 6:4

  • We share communion with Jesus and other Christians around the world because we remember what Jesus has done for humanity. It is a remembrance of the love of Jesus, for our salvation from the bondage of sin and death. Communion consists of the symbolic elements of bread and juice.

    Luke 22:19-20

    2 Peter 1:4

    1 Corinthians 11:23-26

  • The Church is the Body of Christ. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the Church.

    Ephesians 1:22-23

    Ephesians 2:22

    Hebrews 12:23

YOU CAN EXPECT
  • At The Hill, we believe we have been created to create. Our team is creative in more ways than one, and we strive to include artistic touches in everything we do! In our services, that looks like expressions of faith through music, singing, photography, film, and other visual arts.

  • Our congregation is a diverse community that spans all ages, ethnicities, and cultures. We stand on the belief that The Gospel is for everyone and transcends all man-made boundaries or rules. We believe that a diverse congregation is a more accurate picture of the whole Kingdom of God, and we are blessed to be in a city that is as diverse as Vallejo.

  • Everything we do at The Hill is filtered through a lens of building community. We offer many different classes, community groups, and ways to serve so everyone can find their place in the House of God. Our goal is that anyone who comes through our doors would feel welcome, seen, and celebrated.

THE EXPERIENCE

what to wear

At The Hill, you’ll see anything from Sunday best, to sweatshirts and T-shirts. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in!

coffee

The Hill is home to Common Grounds Coffee, where we create craft coffee and more! Bagels, donuts, and drinks are available for purchase. Common Grounds is open before both services and is located on the second level of the Worship Center.

parking

We have upper and lower lots available for parking, so there’s no need to stress about finding a spot. Please be mindful that our church is on an actual hill, and there are stairs and ramps to get from one place to another.

connect

Please make sure to stop by our Welcome Table for more information about The Hill and to meet some of our church members! We have a welcome bag for all first-time guests.

children

If you have children with you, we encourage you to drop them off at our West Education building (east side of the property) for our THV Kids services, or at the nursery which is located next to the Sanctuary in the Worship Center. Our Tribe students’ class is during the 11:00 service and are dismissed after worship.

service

Service begins on time and opens with a time of worship through music, followed by a Bible-based teaching by one of our teaching pastors. Service generally lasts about 90 minutes and is located on the first level of the Worship Center.
